A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
